SHORTCUT:

Forwarding Your MSRI E-Mail to Another Account

With our new external e-mail system, your $HOME/.forward or .procmailrc files will no longer have an effect on our mail system. In order to have the same effect, you can log in to your webmail account and set up a filter with the same rules. You can set up a rule replacing a .forward file with the following steps:

  1. Go to https://webmail.msri.org, log in with your MSRI username and password.
  2. Click on "Filters" at the top.
  3. Click on the "Add New Rule" button.
  4. Choose the "All Messages" option and click "Move on to step 2 > >".
  5. Choose "Redirect to the following email address" and type in the address to which you would like your mail forwarded.
  6. Check the box next to the "STOP" sign at the bottom, next to "If this rule matches, do not check any rules after it."
  7. Click the "Move on to step 4 > >" button.
  8. Click "Finished".
  9. Click "Save Changes". This is an important step! If you do not click "Save Changes" and instead click on another link or log out, the rule you just made will not be saved and your mail will not be filtered.
Please note that this will forward all of your mail, including the spam you receive. If you create a spam rule in addition to your forwarding rule, please choose "STOP: If this rule matches, do not check any rules after it" for your spam rule and place it above your forwarding rule, so it has a lower number.
