Shallow Projections of the DG

Nanoporus and nanorelief 3D ceramic nanostructures have been produced from triblock copolymer systems, and have been examined using the AFM (Atomic Force Microscope). * Unlike TEM images, AFM images reveal structure only near the surface of the sample. Although the principal is entirely different, Volume projections produced by TEMsim can be finessed to simulate such AFM images. To do so, high opacity values for the volumes are used, and the dividing surface is made visible. The pair of images below simulate nanorelief (left) and nanoporus (right) structures based on the double gyroid (DG).
