SHORTCUT:

Inverse Problems

July 20, 2009 to July 31, 2009

Organized By: Gunther Uhlmann* (University of Washington).

The SGW workshop will consist of 8 minicourses of 5 to 6 hours each that will include lectures, computer labs and problem sessions that will supplement the lectures. The minicourses will address a broad range of theoretical and practical issues arising in inverse problems including boundary rigidity and travel time tomography, cloaking and invisibility, electrical impedance imaging, statistical methods and biological applications, thermoacoustic and x-ray tomography, and resonances.

The minicourses will assume a first year graduate course in real analysis at the level of G.Folland's book "Real Analysis" including some knowledge of the Fourier transform. A basic course in partial differential equations would be helpful but it is not necessary. No background in inverse problems is assumed.

Schedule of speakers:

First week: Borcea and Guevara, Kuchment and Kunyansky, Calvetti and
Somersalo, Uhlmann

Second week: Imanuvilov, Lassas, Paivarinta and Salo, Stefanov, Zworski
