Pairs, BPS states, and knot invariants.

Friday November 20, 2009

11:00AM - 12:00PM

Speakers:
Rahul Pandharipande

Abstract:

I will start by presenting an approach to
BPS counts for curves in 3-folds via the theory of
stable pairs (developed with R. Thomas). A natural
question which arises there concerns the Euler
characteristics of Hilbert schemes of singular
curves. I will discuss results and conjectures of
A. Oblomkov and V. Shende relating the latter
topic to knot invariants.
