Abstract:

Geometric aspects of differential equations in the work of Robert B. Gardner

Abstract: In his PhD thesis in 1965, Robert B. Gardner initiated the development of some tools and ideas for the geometric study of differential equations that have inspired subsequent generations of mathematicians. In this talk I will attempt to review a few strands of this aspect of Robert Gardner’s mathematical work and give a personal view of how these ideas have been further developed in more recent times
