Symmetry reduction and Darboux Integrability

Friday May 9, 2008

11:00AM - 12:00PM

Speakers:
Ian Anderson

Abstract:

Abstract: In this talk I shall describe some new applications of the theory of symmetry reduction to the study of Darboux integrable differential systems. I shall propose a nonlinear generalization of the classical Laplace transform, address the problem of when the Cauchy problem for scalar, second order pde in the plane can be solved by quadratures and and outline a new proof of Moutard's theorem.
