=============== NEW YEAR IN THE NEW BUILDING! ==================
MSRI will be moving back into its expanded and renewed home in early
January, and the Spring 2006 Programs will take place there! The Simons
Auditorium, the Hearst Library, and the Baker Board/Seminar room are among
the major additions.
SAVE THE DATES: You are warmly invited to attend the Dedication of MSRI's
Chern Building on FRIDAY, March 3, 2-5pm. In celebration, Sir Roger Penrose
will give a public address on Sunday, March 5 (time & location TBA).
PLEASE NOTE: Currently, MSRI has moved to temporary headquarters at UC
Berkeley's Evans Hall during the final stage of construction of the new
building. MSRI's mailing address remain the same: 17 Gauss Way, Berkeley,
CA, 94720-5070; the main phone number remains (510)642-0143, however,
calling this or any other MSRI phone will lead to voicemail that will be
checked periodically. E-mail is best for immediate communications.
Deliveries should be sent directly to the Mathematical Sciences Research
Institute, 1015 Evans Hall, University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, CA
94720. For info, see http://www.msri.org/specials/moving_back
You can watch construction of the new addition through a "live" webcam at
the building site:

================== WORKSHOPS AT BANFF IN 2007 ==================
MSRI remains a partner in operating the Banff International Research Station
(BIRS). For information on workshops in 2007, see
http://www.pims.math.ca/birs. You can also submit a proposal for Research in
Teams and Focused Research Groups at any time that is at least 4 months
before the requested start date.
===================== ARCHIMEDES SOCIETY =======================
The Archimedes Society helps MSRI to diversify and plan its future funding.
Archimedes Society donor levels celebrate interesting numbers. For example,
the Plato Donor level of $1,922 to $5,040 references The Laws, in which
Plato asserts that a suitable number of citizens for the ideal city would be
that number that contained the most numerous and most consecutive
subdivisions. He decided on 5,040, a number with 59 divisors (apart from
itself). Donors at the Museion level ($5,041+) are invited to two
dinner/lectures in Berkeley and one in New York. To join the Archimedes
Society, please go to http://www.msri.org/alumdev/archimedes/index_html
MSRI would also welcome mention in your Will or Living Trust. Visit
http://www.msri.org/alumdev/ways/index_html for more information. Please
notify us that you done so, and you will be recognized in the MSRI Gauss
Society.
