SHORTCUT:

Shape Representations, Metrics and Matching

MSRI Workshop for Women in Mathematics: Introduction to Image Analysis
January 22, 2005 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM

Speakers:
Leonard, Kathryn

VMath - The Next Generation for Math Lectures on Streaming Video

Summary:

Main shape spaces properties are contractibility under normal flow; non-linearity and that they locally "look" like linear spaces. Shape representations could be boundary curve representations (topic of this talk) and feature vectors structural descriptions and grammers. BC representations can be built in various ways-via horizon functions, curvelets (wavelets generalizations that localize in scale, location and orientation), medial axis or diffeomorphisms of the plane.

Keywords:

Image Analysis; Shape spaces and metrics; boundary curve representations.
