Abstract:

This lecture describes the transition path sampling method. It is
Monte Carlo method for doing importance sampling of trajectory space.
I will review the ideas used for creating random walk steps in
trajectory space, describe how the partition functions thus created
relate to dynamic properties, and how ensembles of trajectories can be
manipulated to perform importance sampling of rare dynamical events.
The techniques will be illustrated with two or three recent
