SHORTCUT:

Variational Principles and PDE's of Computer Vision

Introductory Workshop in Mathematical, Computational and Statistical Aspects of Image Analysis
January 24, 2005 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM
Speakers:
VMath - The Next Generation for Math Lectures on Streaming Video

Summary:

Three topics in computer vision, namely shape from shading, stereo and optical flow estimation, are discussed. In most cases, the problems can be characterized by a see of PDEs. We show that under certain conditions these problems are well-posed and allow for algorithmic solutions.

Keywords:

Image Analysis; PDE; variational principles; vision; shape from shading; Hamiltonians; viscosity; Subsolution; Supersolution; Stereo; Optical Flow.
