SHORTCUT:

Receptive Fields and supressive Fields in the Early Visual System

Emphasis Week on Neurobiological Vision
February 07, 2005 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM
Speakers:
VMath - The Next Generation for Math Lectures on Streaming Video

Summary:

LGN responses to natural stimuli cannot accurately be predicted based on receptive field model. Two nonlinear effects are adaptation to contrast and luminance. These effects have been modeled by a separable model of local luminance and contrast gain control. Contrast was computed within the so-called supressive field that surrounds the classical receptive field. Predicted responses better predict LGN responses to natural stimuli.
