SHORTCUT:

Fibrations, Isotopies and Cell Structures on Arrangements

Introductory Workshop in Hyperplane Arrangements and Applications
August 23,2004 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM
Speakers:
Randell, Richard
VMath - The Next Generation for Math Lectures on Streaming Video

Summary:

The lecture focuses on two topics. First, the topology of the complement of an arrangement is studied with the Milnor fibration. Then conditions for the complement are discussed followed by a discussion concerning how much topological information the intersection lattice contains. The second topic of the lecture is a discussion on dynamic topology of arrangements or more specifically equivalence classes of arrangements. A theorem stating that the topology is constant along lattice isotopy is stated. Finally, open questions concerning these equivalence classes are stated.

Keywords:

Topology of complement of an arrangement; monodromy; moduli space of arrangement; Milnor fiber; isotopy of arrangement.
