Hypergeometric Integrals and Arrangements of Hyperplanes ( An Introduction Using the Classical Examples)

Introductory Workshop in Hyperplane Arrangements and Applications
August 23,2004 03:30 PM to 04:30 PM
Speakers:
Terao, Hiroaki
VMath - The Next Generation for Math Lectures on Streaming Video

Summary:

The lecture is an introduction to Aomoto-Gelfand hypergeometric functions from the arrangement theoretic viewpoint. The classical example of Gauss was presented which arises from the family of 3-point arrangements. The Gauss-Manin connection gives a generalization of the K.Z. equation. An explicit construction of the twisted cohomology basis is done using the Bn.b.c. basis for generic weights.

Keywords:

Gauss hypergeometric differential equations; hypergeometric functions; arrangements of hyperplanes; K.Z. equation.
