The MSRI Computing Handbook

Welcome to the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute. Here, we are committed to the integration of computing into mathematical life. While there is a sizable technological component to this endeavor, the true worth of any institution resides in its people. Our computing staff consists of Rachelle Summers, Acting Head of Computing, in room 229, Max Bernstein, Network Administrator, in room 230, and Chris Beaumont, Web Master, in room 203. We welcome your questions and suggestions, and are eager to help you.

MSRI has a network of UNIX workstations of a variety of architectures. Every member has a machine for access to our network on their desk. There are also public computer labs in rooms 225 and 325. Macintosh machines are available in the third floor lab. There is an array of manuals for our various software packages available for checkout in the library. Periodically, we host User Education Seminars to acquaint members with various aspects of computing at MSRI.
