David Hoffman

David Hoffman received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1973. He has held positions at the Universities of Warwick and Durham in England, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he was Professor of Mathematics and Director of the Center for Geometry Analysis Numerics and Graphics, which he founded with Joel Spruck in 1986. He is the recipient of the Chauvenet Prize of the MAA (1990) and the Vinci Award from LVMH (1997). He is an associate editor of the journal Experimental Mathematics. Hoffman holds a joint appointment at NERSC (LBL).
