Our state has long recognized that patients should be protected from employment discrimination, and it has also long recognized that patients should not be sanctioned for the medical use of marijuana. But, unfortunately, the state Supreme Court ruled 6-2 that our state's laws do not currently protect medical marijuana patients from employment discrimination. Please fix this injustice. Tens of thousands of patients should not be forced out of work, and onto disability assistance, simply for using their medicine. Please vote "yes" on A.B. 2279. This is a narrowly crafted bill that would protect patients from employment discrimination. It would not allow on-site marijuana use, and it would not allow patients to come to work impaired. It would also include an exception for safety-sensitive positions. Please let me know if I can count on you to stand up for patients' right to work. |
