<BODY> MSRI Streaming Video Series <BR> Iain Gordon - Blocks of enveloping algebras in positive characteristic and related algebras <BR> Abstract: We will study certain Noetherian Hopf algebras which are finite modules over their centre. Examples include enveloping algebras of semisimple Lie algebras in positive characteristic and some classes of quantum groups at roots of unity. We will present several general properties of these algebras and then use these to study their representation theory. In particular we will be interested in the block structure of specific finite dimensional factor algebras. These factors include reduced enveloping algebras, gadgets studied in Lie theory. This is primarily joint work with K.A.Brown. </BODY>
