Singularities arising from quivers

William Crawley-Boevey

Abstract: I shall discuss some singularities which arise from representations of quivers. They have appeared in Nakajima's geometric construction of Kac-Moody Lie algebras. Special cases include the Kleinian singularities and their symmetric products. I shall outline a new proof of a theorem of Ito and Nakamura, describing the exceptional fibre for a Kleinian singularity, and hopefully explain how crystal bases can be used in the general case.
