Photographic highlights from the Inaugural Lecture by Sir Roger Penrose in the Simons Auditorium on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI). Over 200 guests attended the special event, which featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony with MSRI Trustee Jim Simons and David Eisenbud, Director, to officially open the new Simons Auditorium and a High Tea before the lecture by Sir Roger Penrose on "Before the Big Bang: A Radical Solution to the Mystery of the Second Law of Thermodynamics." Guest speakers at the Inauguration included Jim Simons and Robert Dynes, President of the University of California.
