SHORTCUT:

Temporary Location of the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, 2004-2005

On July 12, 2004, MSRI moves to its temporary location during the renovation and construction at its permanent site. It is expected that the work will be finished by Winter, 2005.

The new location is at:

Mathematical Sciences Research Institute
Sixth Floor
2850 Telegraph Avenue
Berkeley, CA 94705

Note: All packages sent by carrier other than U.S. mail should be sent to this temporary address. U.S. mail should continue to be sent to our permanent address and will then be rerouted to our temporary one. Please include the entire nine-digit zip code since the UC Berkeley mail system will use that to assure correct routing:

MSRI
17 Gauss Way
Berkeley, CA 94720-5070

The building is on the west side of Telegraph Avenue, about one mile south of the University of California (two blocks north of the intersection with Ashby). MSRI will occupy the second and sixth floors. The space is about the same, but there is much more open space and fewer offices. Nevertheless, we expect to be able to reproduce the MSRI facilities adequately for this one-year purpose.

The administrative offices, library, seminar room and tea room will be on the sixth floor, while the computing labs, lecture room and lunch room and most individual offices are on the second floor. While there are not as many offices available as on Gauss Way, we will nonetheless be able to place a few work cubicles in the large open spaces, in order to be able to accommodate all long-term members, especially during peak times.

All telephone numbers at MSRI will remain the same, in particular, the central number remains 510-642-0143. Applications and communication to MSRI will be received continuously.

Reception: Visitors to MSRI should proceed directly to the reception area which will be located in the southeast corner of the sixth floor. Enter the building from the alcove on the south side of the building through the large double doors. Take the elevator to the sixth floor; upon exiting turn left and pass through the double doors to the desk directly in front of you.
