We are pleased to announce that our Deputy Director, Hélène Barcelo, has accepted our Board of Trustees’ offer to continue serving in this position without a term limitation.  We are grateful for the quality and strength of Hélène's leadership during the past four years in this role, and we deeply appreciate Hélène's generous commitment to the success and vitality of MSRI.  Please join us in congratulating her on this wonderful news.

6.  PROGRAMS, 201215

7.  MEMBER APPLICATIONS FOR 201314

The application period for the 20132014 scientific programs will begin on August 1, 2012.   The 20132014 programs will be: Mathematical General Relativity; Optimal Transport: Geometry and Dynamics; Model Theory, Arithmetic Geometry and Number Theory; and Algebraic Topology.

8.  DIVERSITY

The NSF funded mathematics institutes have started a collaborative diversity program. This program will sponsor several mathematics and diversity oriented workshops per year. The full list may be found at: http://www.mathinstitutes.org/diversity.php. The next activity in this series is the Modern Math Workshop. 9.  DONOR RECOGNITION PROGRAMS

The ARCHIMEDES SOCIETY helps MSRI to implement important programs and diversify and plan its future funding. Archimedes Society donor levels celebrate interesting numbers and places. Archimedes Society donors are invited at no or reduced cost to special events, and are offered reserved seating and special post-event receptions. The GAUSS SOCIETY: MSRI would welcome mention in your Will or Living Trust. 13.  THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MATH CIRCLES
