Music making in the 21st Century at MSRI eventABC-7 KGO-TV2010-05-07 00:00:00.0 News at 11pm The future of music was here today in Berkeley [at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute]. These musicians are using iPhones and the new iPad to make beautiful music together. It happened in a class led by Stanford Assistant Professor Ge Wang, founder and director of the University's Mobile Phone Orchestra and its Laptop Orchestra. He is also the co-founder of a start-up that creates what he calls "crazy musical experiences" on mobile devices. "We've created applications like 'Ocarina,' which transforms your phone into a flute-like instrument you blow into phone to make music, to 'Leaf Trombone,' to an app that auto-tunes your voice."
