The 6th annual CME Group-MSRI Prize in Innovative Quantitative Applications will be awarded to THOMAS J. SARGENT, Professor of Economics, New York University, Senior Fellow, Hoover Institution, Stanford, California, on Monday, September 26 at the CME Group World Headquarters, in Chicago. By invitation only.

[We are pleased to note that on October 10, 2011, Thomas Sargent together with Christopher Sims was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics.]

Prior to the CME Group-MSRI Prize award ceremony, a seminar on "Sovereign Debt" will be held from 2-4pm with moderator José A. Scheinkman, Theodore A. Wells ‘29 Professor of Economics at Princeton University. The panelists includeNarayana Kocherlakota, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis; Guillermo Calvo, Professor of Economics, International and Public Affairs, and Director of the Program in Economic Policy Management (PEPM), Columbia University; and José Viñals, Financial Counsellor and Director, Monetary and Capital Markets Department, International Monetary Fund (IMF). The annual CME Group-MSRI Prize will be awarded to an individual or a group, to recognize originality and innovation in the use of mathematical, statistical or computational methods for the study of the behavior of markets, and more broadly of economics.
