| Abstract: | Bordered Floer theory is an extension of Heegaard Floer homology to surfaces and 3-manifold with boundary. After surveying the general structure of bordered Floer homology, we will see how it can be used to compute various classical parts of the Heegaard Floer package: the closed three manifold invariant HF-hat, the cobordism maps on HF-hat, and the link surgery spectral sequence. These computations follow almost entirely from formal properties of the theory. This is joint work with Peter Ozsvath and Dylan Thurston. |
