Description
The workshop "Connections for Women" to be held January 13 and 14, 2011 is the first one that will take place during the Program "Free Boundary Problems, Theory and Applications". It is intended as a means of bringing together women working in areas related to Free Boundary Problems. On one hand, distinguished mathematicians will present their current research. Taking into account that this is the first workshop in the Program, some survey talks that could suit people that are not specialists will be also included. In these talks, the speakers will briefly comment on their experience as women in mathematics. On the other hand, the workshop is open to "Contributed Talks". Moreover, there will be some free time for informal discussions. One of the major goals besides the scientific aspects, is to encourage women mathematicians to interact and learn about each other´s experiences. Please see the schedule below for speakers and titles. Those interested in contributing with a short talk should send their name, affiliation, email, title and abstract to 562@msri.org, by October 30, 2010. Responses will be sent by email by November 15. In order to apply for funding, follow the registration link below. During the registration you will be asked whether you want to apply for funding. The deadline for funding applications is October 31. BIbliography (PDF) Accommodation: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Rose Garden Inn.
