The Faculty Club has only 23 rooms (6 with shared bath in hall) and tends to fill up months in advance. Please check their website for further details.

If it is impossible, say MSRI will guarantee the reservation, but this often involves verification and >1 phone call. The Berkeley Lab Guest House is one of Berkeley's best kept secrets. They opened in October 2009 and are the destination of choice for sponsored scientists and scholars.
**PLEASE NOTE: The Guesthouse is located within a secured area, and it is much easier to go in and out of the premises if you have your own transportation.**

Piedmont House is a Hostel in Downtown Berkeley. It is located 3blocks south of UC Berkeley on Piedmont Avenue. Hostel-style accommodation is offered in a traveler-friendly environment with shared and private rooms starting from $32 per night. A full kitchen, living room, and laundry room are available.
