Biography
Bill Johnson, a Clay Senior Scholar in the Autumn, 2017, Geometric Functional Analysis program, is a Distinguished Professor and A.G. & M.E. Chair of Mathematics at Texas A&M University. Bill’s base is in the geometry of Banach spaces, but he has also done research in probability, operator theory, geometric non linear functional analysis, and analytical aspects of discrete geometry, the last of which he regards as discrete functional analysis. Bill complains that his most quoted result is a lemma but is happy to accept invitations to conferences in computer science that are issued because of applications the Johnson-Lindenstrauss Lemma has in the design of algorithms.
