Biography
Bob Fernholz is the (retired) Founder of Intech Investment Management, LLC, an institutional equity management firm with offices in Princeton, New Jersey. Fernholz received his A.B. in mathematics from Princeton University in 1962 and his Ph.D. in mathematics from Columbia University in 1967, and he has served on the faculties of the University of Washington, Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires, City University of New York, and Princeton University. /p/ Fernholz has published articles in mathematics, statistics, and mathematical finance, including the research monograph Stochastic Portfolio Theory in 2002. His research in portfolio theory led to the development of the mathematical investment strategies pioneered by Intech, including diversity-weighted indexing, for which he was issued a patent in 1998. He is a trustee emeritus of the Institute for Advanced Study.
