Personal Profile of Dr. David R. Scott


David Scott is Professor Emeritus of Mathematics and Outreach Professor at the University of Puget Sound. He has served on and co-chaired the Committee on Minority Participation in Mathematics of the Mathematical Association of America and founded and directed the Academic Challenge Program, a summer enrichment program in mathematics and science at the University of Puget Sound for middle- and high-school minority students. He is currently an associate editor of Mathematics Magazine and a member of the American Mathematical Society, the Mathematical Association of America, and the National Association of Mathematicians.

His mathematical interests include Harmonic Analysis on Semisimple Groups, Nonlinear Dynamics and, most recently, mathematical problem solving in mathematics education.
