Giving Appreciated Securities
There are many advantages associated with donating
appreciated securities that have owned for a year of longer. You not only
obtain a deduction for the full-fair market value of the stock (typically calculated
as the average of the high and the low on the day the transfer), you also avoid
paying tax on the capital gain. Please consult with your financial advisor on
the best way to maximize these benefits.
Giving from your Donor Advised Fund
You can recommend a grant be paid from a Donor Advised Fund
to MSRI. Please contact the organization or financial institution, who
administers your Fund directly to initiate a grant request.
Employer Matching Gifts
Many employers will match your donation to MSRI, and your gift will make an even greater impact on our program. Check with your employer, or give us a call – we will be happy to check for you.
